Here are a few of the items the commission discussed Monday.

LAND USE CHANGE

The commission changed the general plan land use designation and

zoning for the property at 330 W. Bay St., owned by Richard Dick,

where the Daily Pilot is located, to medium-density residential

development.

WHAT IT MEANS

The land will now be zoned as medium-density residential

development, enabling Dick to build multi-family homes on the

property. Commissioner Dennis DeMaio was absent.

APPEAL OF ADDITION DENIAL

The commission overturned the zoning administrator’s denial of

Todd and Martha Thompson’s plan to expand their home at 463 E. 19th

St. The administrator denied the addition because it doesn’t comply

with the city’s residential design guidelines.

WHAT IT MEANS

The Thompsons can expand their home since the commission found

that the expansion was compatible with the neighborhood, even though

it didn’t comply with the guidelines. Commissioner Dennis DeMaio was

absent.

WHAT WAS SAID

“There were various reasons for [overturning the decision.] The

main one being that the proposed remodeling of the home was in our

view, consistent with the prevailing architecture of the home and

adjoining homes,” Chairman Bruce Garlich said.

SUBDIVISION REQUEST

The commission continued an item involving CommonWealth Partners

LLC requesting the approval of a subdivision of three existing

parcels at Two Town Center into 14 parcels. The subdivision would

divide the existing parcels into 10 lots for buildings and four lots

for parking and common areas.

WHAT IT MEANS

The commission will consider the issue at a future date.
