Dogs need schooling too!

Dogs are a lot like children -- they need love, guidance,

socialization and boundaries.

When we bring a dog into our home we actually don’t want them

acting much like a dog. Otherwise, it would be perfectly fine for

them to chew, tear, shred and go to the bathroom wherever they saw

fit.

Working with animal charities, Good Dog University’s owners,

Michael and Angela Grier learned that 85% of the dogs in shelters are

there due to behavior problems. Sadly, with this high percentage, 50%

of all dogs in the United States will not live to see their second

birthday.

They wanted to circumvent such problems by offering pet parents a

strong support system, while teaching them how to be their own dog’s

trainer.

“It is our clients that will be living with their pet so it’s only

logical that they should be the ones that their dog looks up to,”

Michael Grier said.

They hold advanced training/behavior credentials including CPDT

(Certified Pet Dog Trainer) through the Certification Council of Pet

Dog Trainers, SFSPCA Academy for Advanced Canine Behavior and they

are AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluators.

Currently, there are only six trainers in Orange County that have

earned the CPDT certification. Good Dog University has two of the

six: Michael Grier being one of the first while their associate,

Diane Seidel, received hers in 2003.

No two human families are alike; the same can also be said for

your puppy or adult dog. Each training session or program is

specifically designed for your particular needs, taking into account

your dog’s age, sex, breed, temperament and personality.

When you enroll your dog in a Good Dog University program, a

portion of the tuition is allocated to continue to help animals in

need.
