Man allegedly robs bank, orders a beer, gets arrested

Police nabbed a bank robbery suspect when he put his getaway on

hold to grab a cold one, authorities said.

At about 5:15 p.m. April 22, Ronald A. Langdale, 58, of Los

Angeles, handed a note to a teller at the Bank of America, 18691

Main St., that demanded money, Sgt. Dave Bunetta said. Authorities

would not disclose how much was taken.

Investigators caught up to Langdale about 15 minutes later at the

bar in Mario’s Restaurant, which, like the bank, is in the Five

Points shopping center, Bunetta said. Police had cordoned off the

shopping center after the bank robbery and were checking every store

when they spotted Langdale at the bar, Bunetta said.

Langdale looked like the man witnesses said robbed the bank and he

had some of the cash from the heist, Bunetta said.

Martin Jimenez, the bartender who served Langdale’s Budweiser,

said Langdale did not seem nervous when he asked for the beer and

did not resist police.

HB man and his brother accused of kidnapping

Two brothers were charged with kidnapping a day laborer in

Huntington Beach on Saturday, authorities said.

Stephen Martinez, 45, of Huntington Beach and William Martinez,

41, of Orange, were accused of attacking and imprisoning a

22-year-old Stanton man, after accusing him of stealing their

property while on a previous job with them, Sgt. Dave Bunetta said.

The Stanton man was picked up in Westminster at 8:30 a.m. and

driven to a storage facility in the 18900 block of Gothard Street,

where the brothers confronted him about the missing property before

robbing and handcuffing him, police said.

The brothers did not lock the man in the storage building, so

after they left he flagged down a passing car and had the driver call

police, authorities said. The men were arrested separately near the

storage facility on suspicion of kidnapping, false imprisonment,

assault and robbery, Bunetta said.

The Stanton man suffered minor injuries. Police are investigating

the claim that he stole from the Martinez brothers, authorities said.

Edwards Cinema robbery suspect sought by police

Police are looking for a man who robbed a movie theater at

gunpoint on Warner Avenue last week.

The robber forced an Edwards Cinema employee to the ground while

he took a large amount of cash from the register, Sgt. Mike Mello

said. Police would not say how much was taken.

The robbery occurred at 11:34 a.m. Thursday at 7822 Warner Ave.

Police said the robber is black, in his late 20s, about 5-foot-3 and

weighs about 160 pounds. He was wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt

and bandanna, blue jeans and white athletic shoes.

Man reportedly breaks into home, attacks couple

Police are looking for a man accused of breaking into a Huntington

Beach couple’s home and attacking them last week for no apparent

reason.

“They have no clue why anyone would do this,” Sgt. Dave Bunetta

said.

The two were attacked at about 11:25 p.m. April 22 in an apartment

in the 19100 block of Magnolia Street.

The attacker walked into the couple’s home through an unlocked

door. He had a baseball bat, but he did not use it. The attacker

wrestled with the man and assaulted his girlfriend after she tried to

help. The pair managed to escape the apartment and call police,

Bunetta said.

The attacker is white, about 6-foot-2, weighs about 180 pounds and

has short blond hair. He was wearing a black jacket during the fight.
