Daystar prepares to appeal ruling

Daystar Television Network started its appeal of Judge Corey

Cramin’s rejection of its attempt to stop the sale of KOCE-TV to its

fundraising arm.

Daystar’s attorneys wanted the judge to block the sale by Coast

Community College District and name the Christian broadcaster the

rightful buyer. Cramin ruled that the district was within its rights

when it accepted the bid from the KOCE-TV Foundation, which promised

to preserve its PBS format and focus on local programming.

Dallas-based Daystar, the nation’s second-largest religious

broadcaster, promised to appeal the ruling after the court’s

decision. They gave notice of appeal on Thursday to attorneys for the

district.
