Applications for theater use under way

The Laguna Beach Unified School District and the city of Laguna

Beach are reviewing applications for the use of the Artists Theater

during the upcoming fiscal year, July 1, 2004 through June 30, 2005.

All applications must be received at the high school administrative

offices by 5 p.m. June 4.

Letters announcing the application process will be sent to

interested parties. Applications will be available for pickup on

Wednesday at the high school administrative office and the city’s

recreation department.

The applications will be reviewed by the school district with

first preference given to school activities. Officials say every

effort will be made to accommodate as many requests as possible. A

joint school district and city committee will review the proposed

theater-use schedule.

The final schedule will be available at the high school

administrative office. Applicants will receive confirmation of use by

the end of July.

Questions regarding the scheduling process should be referred to

Peter Roche at (949) 497-7750. ext. 287.

High school aquatics receives donations

The Laguna Beach High School swim team received a new electronic

scoreboard and touch-pad timers, which were installed in all eight

swimming lanes.

The equipment was donated by FlexPoint Funding Corporation, said

Ryann Knott, the company’s president.

Knott said the donation should help the high school have the most

state-of-the-art high school swimming facility in the region. The

company also provided funding for new water polo caps and

registration costs for upcoming tournaments.

Swim team head coach Andrew Priest called the pool one of the best

facilities in the county, and said he is grateful for the company’s

generosity.
