War, what is it good for?

“Personally I would not like to go over to Iraq to die for some

mistake that Bush/the government has made. But if I’m called upon to

go, I’ll do so.”

ELLIOT WHALEN, 17

“I guess it’s something they have to do. It’s fine -- I don’t

think it’s that bad as long as it helps the country.”

JODY STEVENS, 16

“With women now able to be drafted, traditionally it obviously was

not the case even though they need people there. It’s similar to

Vietnam when they ran out of troops. We should withdraw troops before

we hurt populations of war even more and Bush’s credibility goes down

even farther. Now it’s an issue for me especially and I’m concerned

about it.”

KEARA ROSS, 17

“I don’t believe in what we’re doing, fighting for. I don’t like

Bush and I don’t think it’s a legitimate reason. I don’t think I’d go

and waste three years of my life -- I’d move to New Zealand or

something.”

JEFF BOYLE, 17

“First of all I don’t think we should be there now. I don’t

believe in the draft -- my dad was drafted and he hated it. It’s a

scary world, everything is confusing and I think if they reinstated

the draft it would just make it worse. I’m scared and horrified; I

don’t think women should be drafted. I hate to say it, but men are

stronger -- I wouldn’t last five minutes.”

HALEY LANSDELL, 19
