An ode to Mom

JAMES PRIBRAM

It is so hard to find the words

To express my deepest gratitude

That I hold for you

(And this isn’t supposed to be mushy)

There has never been a moment

When I needed you

That you weren’t in my corner

Even if I was wrong

You were there

So whenever I can give you a ride

It means a lot to me

In my own small way of saying

“Thank you”

For all that you have done for me

As we grow older

I try and let you know

Just how much I care

And it isn’t always easy

Sometimes the future spooks me

So every day I try to be

The best son that I can

Some days I get grumpy

And take it out on you

I would say sorry

Except I know

I get it all from you

So on this “Mother’s Day”

I wanted to make sure

And say “Thank You” again

For being more than my Mom

But a best friend to me

Happy Mother’s Day, Mom

Love,

James.

* JAMES PRIBRAM knows when Mother’s Day was. His column was held

last week but his feelings for his mom are strong enough to run the

love note a bit late.
