Just can’t get enough of moms

“This world has many wonders,

God’s many vistas grand;

But none can ever rival

The beauty of mothers’ hands.”

-- WILMA HEFFELFINGER

We have all heard that a mother’s job is never done; neither are

my thoughts on motherhood. They continue in this column.

A Mom is someone who is a waitress, chef, dishwasher, cleaning

lady and on and on ...

A Mom is also someone who has the opportunity to nourish her

family physically, emotionally and spiritually.

A Mom is someone who is a referee as well as a coach...

A Mom is also someone who has access to a heavenly counselor and

comforter.

A Mom is someone who sometimes feels tied down and over worked ...

A Mom is also someone whose committed and sacrificial love

produces healthy, fulfilled children.

A Mom is someone who seems to always be doing something for her

children ...

A Mom is also someone who realizes that God is using her children

to do a great work in her life too.

A Mom is someone who spends more time in her house than anyone

else, but still is hard pressed to finish a project (assuming of

course that she can find all of it!)

A Mom is also someone who is able to see beyond the frustrations

and clutter of motherhood, and focus instead on the vital

contributions she is making to her children’s character.

A Mom is someone who is greatly tempted to say, “Do as I say, not

as I do” ...

A Mom is also someone whose life will teach far more to her

children than her words ever will.

A Mom is someone who knows that her children will make mistakes

...

A Mom is also someone who knows that to forgive is Divine -- and

she calls on that same divine person who forgives her to help her,

also, to forgive.

A Mom is someone who thinks of everyone else’s needs so much that

she often forgets her own ...

A Mom is also someone who is lovingly being taught by God the joys

and responsibilities of being a servant.

A Mom is someone who has one of the longest job descriptions in

the world ...

A Mom is also someone who has great chances to be flexible,

creative and fulfilled.

A Mom is someone who can find it challenging to wear white or eat

in a restaurant that isn’t plastic coated or quick ...

A Mom is also someone who can find joy in each new stage, and

build happy children and memories that will last past tomorrow.

A Mom is someone whose job is only half over when most other jobs

are finished for the day ...

A Mom is also someone whose time and input today will create

lasting impressions tomorrow.

A Mom is someone who sometimes can’t wait until her children grow

up, but will be faced with the fact that they’ve grown and gone all

too soon ...

A Mom is also someone who will soon discover new friends with whom

she can share and grow. She will find them in her grown children.

“Mom” is one of the many titles for the awesome responsibility and

privilege of raising someone for eternity.

And you can quote me on that.
