7 degrees of separation opens

7 degrees of separation opened Thursday with an artist reception

from 6 to 9.m. at [seven-degrees] 891 Laguna Canyon Road.

The event is a collaborative with UC Irvine students. Five student

artists’ work are on display representing different art media and

creative talents. Alison Stankiewicz, Rose Ghavami, Elaine Cardenas,

Amber Kandarian and James Melinat work is now on display.

Brommer solo exhibit at Esther Wells Collection

“America Revisited,” Gerald Brommer’s solo exhibit will open with

an artist reception from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Esther Wells Collection

May 29 and run through June 26.

Brommer’s newest body of work focuses on the beauty of the

American landscape. Drawing from the scenes he enjoys when traveling

and painting on location, he also browsed through his collection of

20-plus sketchbooks in which he has recorded his many travels to

various parts of the country including Alaska, Oregon, Maine,

Pennsylvania and North and South Carolina

The Esther Wells Collection is at 1390 S. Coast Highway. For

Taste for Charity benefit to be held Thursday

The Laguna Board of Realtors and Affiliates will host its annual

“A Taste for Charity,” to benefit Laguna Beach Community Clinic,

Laguna Outreach Community Arts and Shanti Orange County, formerly

Laguna Shanti.

The festivities will include an art auction and food from local

restaurants. The event will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Tivoli Too!,

No Square to hold ‘Babes in Arms’ auditions

No Square Theatre will hold auditions for roles in “Babes in

Arms,” a musical by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart. The cast will

include characters of all ages.

The play will be produced by Bree Burgess Rosen and Adam Hemming

with choreography by Linda Haylett and Vanessa Schneller. Auditions

are by appointment from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. June 4 and 10 a.m. to 2

p.m. June 5 at No Square Theatre’s rehearsal studio, 1863 S. Coast

Highway.

Performances will be in August. Casting information is available

College to hold Collector’s Choice benefit

Laguna College of Art and Design will host its 15th annual

Collector’s Choice and Fine Arts Exhibition. Paintings, drawings,

sculpture and blown glass donated from more than 90 artists will be

raffled for auction. The event is a fundraiser for arts education for

the college.

The college’s gallery will be open 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 1 to

June 5 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 5 to preview the artwork.

Collector’s Choice is from 6 to 10 p.m. June 5 at the college, 2222

Laguna Canyon Road. Tickets are $100 and parking is free.
