For some reason, I’ve had good luck at home plate recently. Not

because I’ve crossed it, but capturing important moments of others

who are trying to. Friday, I was assigned to shoot the Corona Del

Mar-Cabrillo CIF playoff game. I tried something different and I

think it paid off.

Usually, I sit on the CdM side but this time I decided to sit on

the visitor’s side. It was a big inning for CdM who scored a bunch of

runs. There were two outs. When the Sea Kings hit into the outfield,

the baserunners started moving.

I learned from a mistake made last week and followed the second

runner around third base, stay focused the whole time. I could see

the runner’s eyes get big and knew something was coming -- he leaped

over the catcher! I was as anxious to see what he did as much as to

see if I got shot.

I did and it was actually the first shot of the sequence that

nailed to my surprise. Shoot early, be inspired, and pay attention to

the game -- good shots can happen. Be ready.
