Rushing, Golubow win singles titles

Twelve division championship matches were settled last weekend as

the 47th annual City of Laguna Beach Tennis Tournament finals were

completed at Alta Vista Park.

John Rushing won the Mens 5.0 singles title, and the Women 4.0

winner was Jill Golubow.

Team Orange County surfs to another win

Team Orange County defeated Team San Diego Sunday in final day

showdown of the O’Neill Game Weekend to earn the right to host the

National Surf League Championship Weekend.

The south side of the Huntington Beach Pier will serve as the site

for the event, which begins Friday and continues through Sunday.

Team Orange County, which features Laguna Beach surfers Mike Todd,

Pat O’Connell and Bron Heussenstamm, won all four quarters against

Team San Diego en route to an 11-point victory in San Diego.
