Memorial Day is a big weekend in the gay world as it ceremoniously

kicks off summer and brings tourists and locals out.

Woody’s at the Beach is a popular hangout with its outdoor patio,

outdoor seating for dinner as well as decor accented by a rotated

gallery of art. Not to mention, Woody’s is well-known for their food

and is Zagat rated.

Many of the boys will stop by Woody’s after their day at West

Street Beach to enjoy the laid back atmosphere and friendly people.

On Sunday Woody’ will have an outdoor T-dance from 4 to 9 p.m. with

DJ Phil Hoskins spinning. Woody’s is at 1305 S. Coast Highway. For

A block south is the Boom Boom Room, which its offering a host of

happenings over the weekend including boy go-go-dancers Friday,

Saturday and Sunday.

Manager Robert Turner said that they will kick-off the weekend

with DJ Taj from San Diego.

Turner said the decor of the club will be changed with a military

theme for the weekend with a lot of red, white and blue in honor of

veterans and those serving now.

“The downstairs dance floor will be a bunker with a parachute on

the ceiling and accents of ammo, helmets and uniforms,” Turner said.

“It’s a tribute Memorial Day, the military and the holiday kick off

of our summer here.”

Saturday DJ Kio Kio, who is originally out of New York and now one

of the top circuit DJs will be performing Turner said. Kio Kio spins

internationally but spins at least once a month at the Boom.

DJ Kevin Cunard will spin Sunday with a resume including South

Beach, Provincetown and New York City and such places as the Voo Doo

Lounge.

Resident DJ Ali will take over the tables on Monday. He’s a local

favorite and popular with the tourists as well.
