Architect pleads not guilty to charges

An architect arrested in October for allegedly forging building

plans submitted to Newport Beach City Hall pleaded not guilty Friday

at his arraignment at the Harbor Justice Center.

In October, Building Department Director Jay Elbettar estimated

that Andrew Goetz had submitted plans for 10 to 15 homes in the city

in the past year. Goetz is principal of Goetz & Associates in Newport

Center.

Goetz will be in court again July 30 for a pre-trial hearing and a

motion to decide whether his architect’s license should be suspended

pending the result of his case, said Orange County Deputy District

Atty. Mark Sevigny.

This motion was brought by the California Attorney General’s

Office on behalf of the California Architects Board, Sevigny added.
