Minor A Division

Giants 5, Marlins 4

Thirteen proved to be an unlucky number for the Marlins, who had

their 13-game win streak snapped by the Giants.

Their last loss also came to the Giants back on March 27.

The Giants needed a win to keep pace with the A’s in the battle

for second-place in the division standings.

Both teams are now 12-6.

The Marlins continue to lead the standings with a 15-3 record.

The teams were tied, 4-4, in the sixth inning when Casey Hayes

singled, Brandon Stadler was hit by a pitch and then Travis Corey

delivered a game-winning single, which scored Hayes from second base.

The Marlins had a rally in the bottom of the sixth squelched by

Giants’ shortstop Grant Mayeaux, who snared a line drive headed for

left-centerfield, then threw to Hayes at first base to double up a

Marlins’ base runner.

Jake Rubino struck out the next batter to seal the victory for the

Giants.

The Giants were led on offense by Hayes, who went three for three

with two runs scored and Stadler, who went two for two.

Mayeaux, Shane Carter and Aaron Drake each had a hit and scored a

run.
