Man arrested after alleged laser pointing

A teenager was arrested at Huntington State Beach on suspicion of

pointing a laser at a police helicopter, police said.

The helicopter was on patrol in the area above Pacific Coast

Highway and Brookhurst Street at about 8:55 p.m. Monday when a green

laser was reportedly flashed in pilot Officer Rick McNaughton’s eye.

McNaughton suffered minor eye injuries and had to land the

helicopter, but not before his partner was able to spot the suspect

near the beach, Huntington Beach Sgt. Dave Bunetta said.

The suspect, Mark A. Seles, 19, of Fontana, was arrested by state

lifeguards who held him until police arrived to take him and the

laser into custody on the felony charge.
