Marc Alan Dale

Laguna resident Marc Alan Dale died Sunday. He was 60.

Mr. Dale lived in Laguna for more than 22 years. He is a graduate

of Tustin High School and attended UC Berkeley. He served in the U.S.

Army from 1965 to 1967. He received his master’s degree in structural

engineering from Cal Poly Pomona. His engineering firm, Marc Dale

Associates, is in Laguna Beach.

Mr. Dale has designed structures throughout the country including

the largest concrete tilt-up building in the world.

He loved to surf, water and jet ski, sail, snowboard and ride

Harleys.

He is survived by his wife, Valorie; son Brandon; mother Marcia;

father Ralph; sisters Joanie and Annette; brothers Steve, Ken, Doug

and Randy.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Calvary

Evangelical Free Church, 468 Legion St. There will be a viewing prior

to the memorial from 3 to 4 p.m.

In honor of Mr. Dale’s life, the family asks donations be made to

your favorite charity.

David Richard Marriner

David R. Marriner died May 27 from pancreatic cancer. He was 69.

Mr. Marriner was born on Glenneyre Street in Dr. Mason’s office in

Laguna Beach. He was the second son of Tip and Frances Marriner, the

founders of Marriner’s Booksellers.

Mr. Marriner was a varsity football, basketball and track star. He

graduated in 1952, married his high school sweetheart Joan Hooper and

went off to Stanford University.

Mr. Marriner worked for Arthur Andersen and then served nearly 25

years in an executive and chief financial officer capacity with

Fleetwood Enterprises and Burtec Waste Industries in Riverside

County.

For the last 15 years of his working life he commuted nearly every

weekend to Laguna until he retired in 1999 and moved back to the city

full time.

Mr. Marriner loved boogie boarding at Anita Street Beach and

cheering on his grandsons as well as working on his golf at El Niguel

Country Club.

He is survived by his wife, Joan; three daughters Marcia Thorne,

Susan Moore and Sherry Noble; and three grandsons.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the

Hoag Cancer Center in his name.

Maxwell ‘Max’ Sadler

Laguna resident Maxwell Sadler died Saturday, the day before his

birthday. He was 16.

Max spent time with many social groups and was respectful of the

opinions of others. He had a constant smile and easygoing nature.

Max was developing a serious interest in music and was able to

enjoy an electric guitar he received as an early birthday gift.

Max surfed since the age of 5. He competed for the Laguna Beach

High School surf team, surfed in NSSA competitions. He shaped and

repaired his own boards. He also loved to skateboard, skim board,

snowboard and play roller hockey.

Max participated in the Logos high-school youth program at Laguna

Presbyterian Church and attended youth trips to Kern County, Mammoth,

Baja and Hawaii. He was also a volunteer advisor for the Church’s

Caravan junior high school youth group and a counselor at the

Church’s Club H20 summer program. He participated in Junior

Lifeguards, little league and AYSO.

Max is survived by his parents, James and Carolen; brother Brooke;

grandmothers Carol Weisenburg of Laguna Woods and Elizabeth Sadler of

Corona del Mar; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

A joint memorial service, celebrating the memory of both Max

Sadler and Mark Tiner will be held at Laguna Presbyterian Church at 3

p.m. today.

The Sadler family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be

made in Max’s memory to the Laguna Presbyterian Church youth group,

415 Forest Ave.

Mark Tiner

Laguna Beach resident Mark Tiner died Friday. He was 17.

Mark attended Capistrano Valley Christian School for 10 years

before attending Laguna Beach High School.

He was in Eagle Scout Troop 872, was on the junior varsity

volleyball team and the surf team. He had a purple belt in karate and

was on the principal’s honor roll.

Mark was an avid swimmer at four weeks old and could swim a lap at

Crown Valley Pool at the age of 2.

Mark loved Jesus, music and travel. He visited Turkey, Mexico,

Switzerland, Austria, Thailand, Ireland and Canada. He also loved

Sleepy Hollow and Bluebird Beach and lighting Fourth of July

fireworks with his dad and brother.

Mark is survived by his parents, Peter and Eleanore; brother Sean;

and his uncle Steve.

A joint memorial service, celebrating the memory of both Max

Sadler and Mark Tiner will be held at Laguna Presbyterian Church at 3

p.m. today.
