Long-time Laguna resident dies in accident

Marc Alan Dale, a Laguna Beach resident for more than 22 years, died

in a motorcycle accident on Saturday.

Dale, 60, was pronounced dead at the scene after a collision with

a van at 7:12 p.m. at the intersection of Marguerite and Avery

parkways in Mission Viejo.

Orange County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Jim Amormino said

Dale crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a van.

“It is unknown why he crossed into oncoming traffic,” Amormino

said. “The accident is under investigation.”

Dale was born in Seattle on Aug. 11, 1943 and has lived in

California since 1950.

He is a graduate of Tustin High School and attended UC Berkley. He

served in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1967. His engineering firm Marc

Dale Associates is located in Laguna Beach.

In a statement prepared by his family, they said Dale was well

respected in the business world.

They said he was a lover of life, appreciated for his sense of

generosity and loving spirit. He worked hard and played hard.

His passions included surfing, water and jet skiing, sailing,

snowboarding, Harley motorcycles, fine food and wine.

He enjoyed all these things with his best buddy and son Brandon,

his family and many treasured friends.

“We will always remember his laughter, love and big heart.”

He is survived by his wife Valorie, his son Brandon, his mother

Marcia, his father Ralph, his sisters Joanie and Annette and his

brothers Steve, Ken, Doug and Randy.

The memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Calvary

Evangelical Free Church of Laguna Beach, 468 Legion St. Prior to the

memorial will be a viewing from 3 to 4 p.m. For information call

In honor of Marc Dale’s life, donations may be made to the charity

of one’s choice.
