Everyone out of the pool

Those who have been to Europe are certainly aware of what seems a

strange item to Americans: public pay toilets.

They sit there on the street, and for a half a euro (now the

currency’s all the same) you don’t have to race back to your hotel

room.

It’s always struck us as a bit undemocratic. We’re used to certain

freedoms, and this one’s higher on the list than it maybe should be.

Imagine it costing $1,000, though. That’s one of the many thoughts

that ran through our heads when we heard the Balboa Bay Club & Resort

had instituted a grand fine on anyone, or any parent whose child, is

caught defecating in the pools.

It certainly will keep us out of the pool.

At least until we turn a couple of kids in and pocket the $500

reward for tattling.

(And don’t worry, club-goers, we’re not really members! And we’re

not lurking around for scoops, though this one somehow found us.)
