Tigers roar to 21-win season

The Tigers of Huntington Valley Little League roared through an

undefeated league season and in the process won the Minor B Division

championship.

The Tigers will take a 21-0-1 record into today’s District 62

Tournament of Champions action, hosted by Seaview Little League.

Huntington Valley battles Westminster No. 2 today at 5 p.m.

Leading the offense throughout the season was the hitting of Greg

Carter, Jake Weiser, Ryan Morrissey and David Clegg.

The pitching staff consisted of Tyler Macleod, Jacob Linson and

Jake Weiser, and the defense was led by Peter Goode, Adam Mann, Tyler

Carnival, Frankie Calleros, Owen Myers and Grant Schaindwein.

The Tigers are managed by Scott Clegg, with David Weiser and Carl

Goode serving as coaches.

In Minor A play:

Angels 18, A’s 1

Jacob Lesinski notched the pitching win, Scott Campbell went three

for three with three RBIs, Chris Navarro had two hits and an RBI,

Mitch Clark had three RBIs and Dominic Granado scored three runs as

the Angels wrapped up first place.

Brandon Hastings had the A’s only hit and scored their only run.

Marlins 4, Royals 2

Michael Buntich struck out seven as the Marlins finished the

regular season with an overall finish of second in the division.

Scott Orel drove in a pair of runs, Jake Beardshear had an RBI

single and Connor Geck made an outstanding catch in right field to

end the game.

Ryan Bleile and Steven Malone each had an RBI single for the

Royals.

Royals 15, Cubs 4

Behind a 19-hit attack and Nolan Heyer’s first complete game of

the season, the Royals ended the second half of the season in second

place.

Heyer finished with eight strikeouts and had two hits and two RBIs

on offense.

Connor Ahern and Kaleb Pritchett each had a double, two singles

and two RBIs, Noah Harrison and Tanner Smith each had two hits and an

RBI, and Steven Malone had two hits.

The Cubs’ Jack Koeller pitched a complete game, striking out five,

and Taylor Campbell and Nick Plunkett each had two hits.

Royals 11, A’s 10

Perry Clitheroe threw two no-hit innings and got the win for the

Royals.

Steven Malone delivered a single and two RBIs, Connor Ahern had a

hit and RBI and Brandon Trulli scored the winning run.

Grant Murchison had a pair of hits, and Wesley Krautkramer had a

single and three RBIs to lead the A’s.

Dodgers 7, Marlins 7

Tanner Hirst led the Dodgers with two hits, an RBI, run scored and

key catch in left field, Danny Oates had two hits and two RBIs, and

Dan Knight added an RBI double and single in the tie game.

Corey Hammond’s double, single and two RBIs led a Marlins attack

that saw Connor Geck get two hits and an RBI.

Cubs 9, Marlins 1

Chase Leamer got the win on 71 pitches for the Cubs.

Leamer struck out seven without giving up a walk or earned run,

allowed just three hits and was in on 14 of the 18 outs recorded by

the Cubs.

He also backed his performance by hitting an RBI single and

scoring two runs on offense.

Jack Koeller had two hits and an RBI, Taylor Campbell had two hits

and Wrede Cockerill doubled for the Cubs.

Wes Kobel had two hits and Andy Grunbaum singled to account for

the Marlins’ offense.

Royals 18, Dodgers 8

The Royals pounded out 23 hits and Connor Ahern threw his first

complete game of the season in beating the Dodgers.

Ahern delivered on offense, too, with four hits and an RBI.

Steve Malone homered over the center-field fence and finished the

game with four hits, four RBIs and three runs scored. Noah Harrison

had three singles and three RBIs, William Menke doubled among three

hits and had an RBI, Kaleb Pritchett had two hits and three RBIs,

Colby Griffith doubled, singled and had an RBI, Nolan Heyer had an

RBI double, and Ryan Bleile, Perry Clitheroe and Brandon Trulli each

had an RBI single.

The Dodgers’ Zach Bauer had an RBI double and single, Danny Oates

had a double and single, Shay McAfee had a two-run double and Tanner

Hirst had an RBI single.

At Ocean View Little League

Minor A Division

Giants 6, Reds 4

The Giants won their eighth straight game to claim second place

and earn the division’s final Tournament of Champions berth.

Austin Barlow hit his sixth home run of the season, a two-run shot

in the third inning.

Barlow and Jake Rubino combined to strike out 10.

The Reds made things interesting in the sixth inning, but trailing

6-3, they loaded the bases with no outs, yet managed to score just

one run.

The Giants’ offense was led by Casey Hayes, who went 3-for-3 with

a double and RBI. Grant Mayeaux, Jake Rubino, Brandon Stadler, Travis

Corey and Ryan Salz each had two hits.

In Minor B Division play:

The A’s won their final three games and earned a third-place

finish in the division.

They defeated the Angels (14-5), Giants (11-9) and Rockies (14-10)

in a seven-day period.

Josh Said, Jake Poss, David Feirstein, Tyler Hammock, Conner

Cassotta, James Shramek and Alex Harden each saw pitching action in

the three games and Jason Baxter, William Morehand, Leland Morehand,

Patrick Poss and Anthony Rocha led the offense.
