Laguna lands four on all-league team

Four members of the Laguna Beach High School baseball team have

been named to the 2004 All-Pacific Coast League team, Breakers Coach

Tom Faris said.

Senior Conley Sampson, a catcher/pitcher/utility player, was the

lone Breaker to be named to the first team.

Senior Alex Wilson, a pitcher/infielder, was a second-team

selection and seniors Grant Harrell, a pitcher/infielder, and Jake

Wheeler, an outfielder, were given honorable mentions.

“I think that where we finished in league, it’s a positive thing

for our program to have four players named all-league,” Faris said.

“These four players did a terrific job for us throughout the season.”

Laguna finished Pacific Coast League play in fifth place with a

3-12 record.

Undefeated league champion Corona del Mar cleaned up in the

all-league selections.

The Sea Kings also went on to win the CIF-Southern Section

Division IV championship on June 5 at Dodger Stadium.

Sampson, Wilson, Harrell and Wheeler all played for the Pacific

Coast League in last Saturday’s South County Showcase of Players

baseball games at Windrow Park in Irvine.

The Pacific Coast League took on players from the South Coast

League.
