Legends to the Lido for film premiere
GREER WYLDER
The historic Regency Lido Theater was chosen as one of three
locations in the world to premiere Stacy Peralta’s new surf
documentary, “Riding Giants.” New York and Los Angeles will also show
the film.
The “Riding Giants” benefit premiere at 7:30 p.m. July 8 will be
open to the public. Proceeds from the event will benefit two Orange
County charities, the Surfrider Foundation and the Ocean of Hope.
Special appearances at the premiere will include Peralta and surf
legends Sam George, Laird Hamilton, Greg Noll and Titus Kinimaka.
Upon arrival, the filmmakers, stars and surf legends will step out of
classic Woodies onto the blue carpet.
A VIP pre-cocktail reception and after-film party will include
surf music, food, entertainment and raffles. The Via Lido Plaza will
be transformed into a North Shore of Oahu surf village, complete with
a mechanical surf machine called a Robo Surfer.
Tickets to the premiere are $50 for the screening and after-party;
and $100 for VIP seating, pre-cocktail reception and after-party. The
VIP reception will start at 7 p.m. with the North Shore After Party
opening at 9:30 p.m.
