SATURDAY

The Bolsa Chica Wetlands Tour will feature trained tour guides who

will discuss bird identification, ecology, endangered species, early

history of the wetlands and their current status. The tour will be

held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Guests will meet at Bolsa Chica Ecological

Reserve bridge on east side of Pacific Coast Highway between Warner

The Shipley Nature Center Tour will give visitors the opportunity

to see the Shipley Nature Center grounds and hear descriptions of the

center’s planned restoration to its historical native plant habitat

through the addition of water conservation gardens. The tour will

begin at 11 a.m. Guests will meet at the front gate to the Shipley

Nature Center. Parking will be offered at the Central Park Drive

parking lot. Follow the painted line along the sidewalk to the

SUNDAY

The annual Surf City 5K Run and Expo will be held during the

Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast before the Fourth of July Parade begins.

The Residents’ 5K run/walk will begin at 7 a.m., the Open 5K run/walk

will start at 8 a.m., the 5K stroller run will begin at 8:30 a.m. and

the children’s mile run, for 7 to 12 year-olds or 1/2-mile run for 6

year-olds and will commence at 9 a.m. Registration will start at 6

a.m. at the Expo Village at Worthy Park on the corner of 17th and

Main streets. The cost to participate will be determined.

JULY 11

Huntington Dog Beach will hold a beach cleanup. Free pizza,

cleaning supplies and quarters for parking will be provided. The

cleanup will be from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and volunteers will meet

at the white canopy near tower 24. Parking will be available along

Pacific Coast Highway between Goldenwest Street and Seapoint Avenue.

A support group for adult children of Alzheimer’s individuals

sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Assn. of Orange County will meet at 7:30

Coping at Home, a survival guide for caregivers workshop, will be

offered at the Adult Day Services of Orange County from 6:30 to 8:30

p.m. at 9451 Indianapolis Ave. This workshop will educate those on

how to handle the behavioral challenges associated with dementia.

The SOS Investment Club meets regularly on the second Monday of

each month and is seeking new members interested in studying

companies and making long-term investments. The group’s meetings are

The Huntington Beach

Chapter of the National Assn. of the Physically Handicapped

provides disabled children and adults the opportunity to make their

lives become more vital to the community through providing

informative newsletters four times a year from National Headquarters.

It meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at

The Clara Barton chapter

of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution will

meet at 9:30 a.m. on the Thursday preceding the third Saturday of

Membership in the club is open to any woman who is at least 18 and

can prove lineal bloodline descent from an ancestor who aided in

The Point-to-Point

chapter of the American Needlepoint Guild meets on the fourth

Wednesday of each month (except December) at Rodgers Senior Center at

provides education in needle arts, particularly needlepoint, and is

The Kiwanis Club of

Huntington Beach Surf City Breakfast Club has just formed and will
