The Newport Harbor Nautical Museum will host an exhibit of 40

maritime paintings by Caleb Whitbeck. The exhibit will include three

classic local yachts, the Curlew, Ticonderoga, and the Sea Drift. The

event will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Sept. 12 at the Newport

Harbor Nautical Museum, 151 E. Coast Hwy., Newport Beach.

The Newport Harbor Nautical Museum will host Family Boat Building

an event featuring 30 teams of families building 30 boats in 2 days.

Boat construction will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 24 with

finishing touches and christening from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 25 at

the Newport Harbor Nautical Museum, 151 E. Coast Highway, Newport

Hornblower Cruises and Events is sponsoring a three-hour dinner

cruise celebrating the Fourth of July, featuring a traditional-style,

barbecue buffet including roasted chicken, barbecue-style beans, corn

on the cob, cole slaw and more. Leaving from Newport Harbor, boarding

begins at 6:30 p.m. and runs 7 to 10 p.m. Cost is $79.95 per person.

SAILING CLASSES

Orange Coast College’s school of sailing and seamanship will offer

a coastal navigation certification class from 7 to 10 p.m. July 7 at

OCC’s Sailing Center, 1801 W. Coast Highway, Newport Beach. The cost

Sailing Fascination offers classes in boating safety and sailing

year-round for persons with disabilities. Classes are Tuesdays and

Orange Coast College’s school of sailing and seamanship will hold

a noncredit “Rules of the Road” course, which teaches standard

operations and etiquette aboard sea crafts of various size from 7 to

10 p.m. Thursdays, July 8 and July 15. Registration is $45 and is

held at OCC’s sailing center, 1801 W. Coast Highway, Newport Beach.
