Second man in assault turns self in

Martin Jackson, wanted for punching a man in the head during an

altercation outside of a Laguna restaurant, turned himself in to

police on Monday.

Jackson, 23, of Lake Forest, was driven to the police station by

his father at about 12:30 p.m. and was arrested on suspicion of

assault with a deadly weapon. Sgt. Darin Lenyi said a detective

convinced Jackson to surrender after a telephone conversation.

On June 19, Benjamin Tomkinson, 18, of Laguna Beach, was

reportedly attacked by Jackson and Shawheen Shafizadeh, 20, of Laguna

Niguel, who was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder for

allegedly kicking Tomkinson in the head. Shafizadeh was arrested

shortly after the attack, which happened outside of the Royal

Hawaiian on North Coast Highway.

Vendors caught selling alcohol to minors

Police worked with state authorities in an undercover operation

set up to catch people selling alcohol to minors on Friday.

Laguna detectives and officers with the state Department of

or use fake ID’s Sgt. Darin Lenyi said.

The decoys went to 23 stores and restaurants that sell alcohol,

and misdemeanor citations for selling alcohol to a minor were given

to six people. Adolfo Vides, 69, of Laguna Beach, Jon Solovy, 19, of

Laguna Woods, Dani Inman, 32, of San Clemente, Cory Lohman, 30, of

San Diego, Guillermo Perez, 23, of Laguna Niguel and Luis Blanco Jr.,
