Locals deliver assist in summer tournament title

The Fountain Valley Mustang All-Stars won the Dana Point Summer

Classic Baseball Tournament, beating the St. Hedwig’s All-Stars by a

decisive 7-3 score on June 2.

Fountain Valley, whose roster contains several players from

Huntington Beach, rode a strong defensive effort to down St.

Hedwig’s, from Los Alamitos.

St. Hedwig’s three runs were the result of Fountain Valley’s only

error and two home runs in the first inning.

Matt Lovsto, Joey DeMarco, Kevin Heesacker, Sean Finley and Scotty

Weaver each made key defensive stops.

Fountain Valley got timely hits from Wyatt Christensen, Jacob

Marvos, Christian Rodriguez, Nestor Linares and Brenton Visnoski.

Fountain Valley also rode the strong arm of Mathew Gilbody, who went

the entire six innings to record the win.

Other members of the Fountain Valley Mustang All-Stars who

contributed to the tournament title were Brad Owen and Nestor

Linares.
