A Newport Beach realtor and Orange Coast Exchange Club member sent

the following along, saying, “Wish I could take credit for this idea,

but it’s not mine.” More than likely it has been circulating on the

Internet and now needs to get into the main stream media.

Here goes ...

“We plan to do this EVERY Friday until all our troops return home.

It has come to my attention that quite a few Americans support our

troops, but as usual, we are the silent majority. We are not

‘organized’ to really reflect who we are (and) our opinions.

“Our idea of showing our solidarity and support for our troops is

that starting Friday, and continuing on each and every Friday, that

we and every red-blooded American who supports our young men and

women, WEAR SOMETHING RED.

“Whether by word of mouth, press [or] TV, let’s see if we can make

the United States, on any given Friday, a sea of red. If every one of

our colleagues shares this with other acquaintances, fellow workers,

country club friends, neighbors, I guarantee you that it will not be

long before the USA will be covered in RED -- much to the disdain of

the un-American ralliers. Let’s get the word out and lead by example;

wear RED on Fridays.”

Count me in. I am going to join with Betty Moses and wear red on

Friday. Join us if you will!

CONCERTS IN THE PARK

Members of the Kiwanis Club of Costa Mesa will gather at Fairview

Park at 6 p.m. July 20 to listen to Myke Jones and the Young Guns as

a summer social event for members, their spouses and friends. Newport

Rib Company will be catering the group at a cost of $10 per person.

Members are asked to bring their own blanket, beach chairs and a

jacket, because it does cool off in the evening. Sounds like a fun

night!

MONSTERS OF THE UFO

Don’t miss this incredible sneak preview of “UFO Encounters” as

presented in a one-hour docudrama produced by Barry Conrad. It is a

compilation of three riveting UFO-creature encounter stories that

occurred during the early years of the “flying saucer” craze that

swept the country, following the sighting of nine disc-like objects

over Mt. Rainier, Wash., by Kenneth Arnold in June 1947.

Each story will contain actual interview and location footage from

the respective people and sites where these inexplicable happenings

occurred. In addition, there will be dramatic recreations of the UFO

encounters. Conrad will speak about his team’s investigations into

these incidents, the strangeness surrounding them and what’s been

learned since they were originally reported.

The special screening takes place at 7:30 p.m Wednesday at the

Costa Mesa Neighborhood Community Center. For more information, call

drawings. General admission is $12; Mufon members and students are
