Never too old to spend too much time at the beach

Oh boy, I can hear it now: “You’ve spent too much time at the beach

again.” Oh well, this has been the story of my life since I was knee

high.

First it was my mom scolding me, and now it’s the warden -- a.k.a.

my girlfriend.

My mom used to yell at me to get off the beach to do my homework.

Now the warden yells at me to get off the beach to do the dishes --

one day it might be the diapers.

Ouch.

If that’s the case it’s all the more reason to spend these

beautiful days at the beach. Where else might I go, the mall?

No thanks.

Sometimes you need an excuse. I learned that one at a young age.

Today, for instance, it was 6:47 p.m. and I had just walked in from

the beach -- sweaty and sandy from playing volleyball.

The warden asks, “Where you been?”

Oh my gosh honey, it was terrible. Brandy Norton forgot his swim

fins today and had to be rescued. He was so embarrassed he needed a

hug.

Luckily for old Brandy, Ray Williams threw him a volleyball to

float on until the lifeguards could get to him while Kurt rummaged

through his cooler.

It was awful honey. You should have seen the way Kurt went through

his cooler. It was really scary.

I think I need a hug.

Boy, these days down at Victoria Beach sure are getting scary. I

think I’ll get down there a little earlier tomorrow. After all,

there’s nothing better than a good riptide in the summertime if you

know what a mean. I sure hope Brandy forgets his fins again.

Who knows, I might even pull off 7:30 p.m. tomorrow night.

After all, what’s better than a good day a beach in the

summertime?

Nothing.

Peace.
