SOCCER CAMPS

NEWPORT BEACH: Skyhawks Soccer Camp teaches good soccer skills and

sportsmanship in a series of scrimmages and exercises. Participants

should bring water, sunscreen, lunch and a snack and will receive a

soccer ball and a T-shirt. Ages invited are 7 to 12. The camp is

Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and begins Aug. 23. The cost

SPORTS CAMPS

NEWPORT BEACH: Skyhawks Mini-Hawks Sports Camps is an introductory

program for children that teaches basic skills in basketball,

baseball and soccer in a relaxed setting. All participants should

bring water and a snack and will receive a mini-ball and a T-shirt.

Ages invited are 4 to 6. Camps are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to

noon and begin Aug. 9 and Aug. 23. The cost is $110. Information: (949) 644-3151.

NEWPORT BEACH: Mightyhawk Multi-Sport Camp allows children to

learn and play a variety of sports in one week. Sports include

baseball, basketball, soccer and flag football. Participants should

bring water and a snack, and will all receive a T-shirt. Ages invited

are 5 to 12. Camps are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and

SUMMER CAMPS

NEWPORT BEACH: Kids Paddle Camp teaches children the basics in

kayaking and outrigger canoeing. Destinations in the weeklong course

include Balboa Fun Zone, Spyder Island and Bubble Beach. Fridays

include a barbecue at the Newport Aquatic Center. Participants should

bring a towel, a bathing suit, a change of clothes and a snack in a

well-labeled backpack. Ages invited are 8 to 12. Camps are Monday

through Friday, 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. and begin weekly until Aug. 16.

SURF CAMPS

NEWPORT BEACH: Quiksilver Surf Camp 2004 teaches kids ocean safety

and etiquette. Kids will learn to stretch and get instruction from

professional surfers in style, competition and environmental

protection. Friday afternoons are parent days and parents are welcome

to join the course. Ages invited are 6 to 12. Camp is Monday through

Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and begins Aug. 9, Aug. 16 and Aug. 23.

NEWPORT BEACH: Surf Camp provides hands-on instruction for the

most novice to the most experienced. Includes instruction in history,

water safety and riptides, sun protection and the most basic and

crucial techniques. Ages invited are 7 to 15. Camps are Monday

through Friday, 8 a.m. to noon and begin weekly starting until Aug.

9. The cost is $150 plus a $100 materials charge. Information: (866)

TENNIS CAMPS

NEWPORT BEACH: USA Tennis 1-2-3 Camps allow participants of all

ages and playing levels to have a chance to play matches in

round-robin formats with prizes and T-shirts for all. Participants

need to bring one unopened can of tennis balls to the first meeting.

Ages invited are 5 to 17. Classes are Monday through Friday, 9 to 10

a.m., 10 a.m. to noon or 1 to 3 p.m., and begin weekly through Aug.

NEWPORT BEACH: RMS Sailing and Tennis Camp teaches youngsters the

fundamentals of both. Participants will receive a T-shirt and

certificate upon completion and need to bring a Coast Guard-approved

life jacket, a tennis racket and one can of new tennis balls.

Appropriate attire, a towel, swimwear, tennis shoes and shorts are

recommended. Ages invited are 5 to 12. Classes are Monday through

Friday, 9 a.m. to noon or 1 to 4 p.m., and start weekly beginning

NEWPORT BEACH: USA Tennis Camps for Mighty Mights allows kids the

opportunity to further develop skills in a round robin tournament and

face the king or queen of the hill. Racquets are provided and a

T-shirt will be awarded to all participants. Ages invited are 5 to 7.

Classes are Monday through Friday, 9 to 10 a.m. and begin weekly on
