Race for the cure getting organized

Three local women were named to committees organizing the 13th

annual Komen Orange County Race for the Cure, which is scheduled for

Sept. 26 at Fashion Island in Newport Beach.

Sally Molnar of Newport Beach will chair the finance committee,

while Kim Courtemarche of Corona del Mar will be on the steering

committee, and Cindy Thomsen of Costa Mesa will serve as chair of the

survivors committee for the race, which is the largest 5K run/walk in

the state.

Organizers expect about 25,000 participants in this year’s event.

Since the race was first held in Orange County in 1992, it has raised

more than $10 million to fight breast cancer. For information about
