Using an arsenal that included radical maneuvers such as the “cab

kick flip,” Huntington Beach resident Bastien Salabanzi finished

third overall and brought home the bronze medal from the X Games X

Skateboard Street men’s final.

Salabanzi, 18, finished the competition with an overall point

total of 88.75 at a competition course set up outside of Staples

Center in downtown Los Angeles.

Eleven of the world’s top men’s skateboarders challenged each

other during a three-run, up-and-back, free skate, and a

three-obstacle jam session.

The event was won by Paul Rodriguez Jr., 19, of Chatsworth.

He is the son of comedian Paul Rodriguez.

The silver medal went to Andrew Reynolds of Hollywood.

Salabanzi led a trio of Surf City athletes who finished in the top

10 in the event.

Coming in behind Salabanzi in fourth-place was 21-year-old Mark

Appleyard, who scored 82.75 points. In eighth-place was Geoff Rowley,

28, who finished with 75.75 points.
