* Boyd Martin (senior champion) -- Teamed with Santa Ana Country Club

head pro Geoff Cochrane in last year’s Jones Cup. Won six Santa Ana

men’s club championships.

* Marianne Towersey (ladies champion) -- Holds a Newport-Mesa

record 20 Santa Ana Country Club ladies club titles. Earned her

second victory in three years at the California Senior Women’s

Amateur championship with an 11-stroke win in May.

* Bill Welch (men’s champion) -- Attended Adrian College in

Adrian, Mich., where he played on the school’s golf team for three

years. He was named the team’s Most Valuable Player and led Adrian to

a share of the Michigan Interscholastic Athletic Association one

season.

* Geoff Cochrane (head pro) -- Cochrane is in his second year as

the Southern California PGA’s tournament chairman for the Metro

chapter. Started as a bag attendant at Mesa Verde Country Club and

advanced to assistant pro before taking assistant pro position at

Santa Ana in 2001.
