Foundation race offers ways to participate

The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation is offering ways

people can participate in Race for the Cure on Sept. 26 at Fashion

Island.

Officials hope the race, organized by the foundation’s Orange

County affiliate, will raise more than $1.5 million. About 75% of the

money raised will remain in Orange County to fund breast health and

breast cancer outreach activities, with 25% going toward the Komen

Foundation Award and Research Grant Program.

Those interested may either form a team to run or walk in one of

the 5K events, sign up individually, volunteer to help out,

participate in fundraising activities or make a donation. They can

also be “virtual runners,” which means they can register online at

https://www.occure.com and pay the entry fee if they can’t participate

in the race.

For more information, call (714) 957-9165 or visit their website.
