Teams remain unbeaten in softball

Chico’s Bail Bonds and Sandpiper continued their winning ways to

remain unbeaten in Laguna Beach Community Service Dept. Summer 16

Slow Pitch Softball League action.

Chico’s Bail Bonds ran its Thursday League record to 5-0 with a

15-4 win over the upstart C-Dawgs.

Dave Brown led the offensive charge with four home runs and a

single, which accounted for six RBIs.

Jacob Heflin racked up four singles, and leadoff hitter Scott

Borthwick homered and singled twice.

Joel Bushong and Ray Maple led the C-Dawgs on offense.

Bushong went four for four and Maple homered twice and collected

three RBIs.

In other Thursday League action:

Team Hobie, 9, Rotary, 8

A fifth consecutive victory enabled Team Hobie to remain alone in

second place in the league standings, just one-half game behind

Chico’s Bail Bonds.

Richard Collins homered, doubled and singled, Mark Christy hit a

three-run home run and Paul Corey hit a two-run homer to pace Team

Hobie.

Rotary’s Donn Johnson drove in five runs with a grand slam and

solo homer, and leadoff batter Jonathan Cohen went three for three

with a home run.

Compound Fractures, 13, Arbitech, 1

A 16-hit attack allowed Compound Fractures to roll past Arbitech.

Jason Watson delivered a three-run home run and Mike Carter went

three for three to lead the Compound Fractures offense.

William Manaci pitched a six-hitter -- all singles -- and Donnie

Graham drove in the lone Arbitech run.

In Tuesday League action:

Sandpiper, 13, Good, Bad and Ugly, 0

Sandpiper improved to 6-0 in Tuesday League action by shutting

down Good, Bad and Ugly.

Dave Sommerville drove in seven runs behind three home runs, which

included a second-inning grand slam.

Ryan Neptune delivered a home run and a single to add to

Sandpiper’s hit total.

Joel Bushong limited Good, Bad and Ugly to just five hits, with

Anthony Bruno and Bill Tallant each hitting a pair of singles.

Team Viagra, 11, Used Cars, 9 Keith Mulvaney belted two home runs, singled, walked and produced

six runs, and Greg Shire homered twice for another four runs as Team

Viagra pulled the upset.

Used Cars leadoff hitter Pat Toohey hit a pair of homers and

finished with four RBIs and Micah Stovall hit a solo homer in the

first inning.

Ganahl Lumber, 3, Forty Majority, 2

John Campbell hurled a five-hitter as Ganahl Lumber evened its

record at 3-3.

Rick Edwards’ solo homer in the fourth inning broke a 2-2 tie and

proved to be the winning run.

Fred Bonn singled twice and Steve Dixon had an RBI triple in the

third inning for Ganahl Lumber.

Skip Penney smacked a two-run home run in the first inning for

Forty Majority.

In Wednesday League action:

Mesa Verde Partners, 8, Sports World, 4

Dave Meggison’s first-inning, three-run home run, propelled Mesa

Verde Partners, which remained tied with the Arborists for the league

lead at 4-1.

Meggison also walked three times, Steve Bryant hit a game-turning,

two-run homer in the second inning and singled in the fourth.

Mitch Kruger Jr. homered twice to lead Sports World.

Arborists, 11, Courtesy Auto Body, 0

Jeff Tankersley’s two-hitter led to a shutout by the Arborists.

The offense was led by Greg Kain with three singles, Kenneth

Greenpost with two doubles and a three-run home run by A.J. Voto

during a nine-run second inning.

Leadoff batter Armen Gasparian singled twice to account for both

Courtesy Auto Body hits.
