Jasper

Jasper is a torti tabby, which means her fur has hints of reddish

gold that shines beautifully in the light. She is a great cat,

according to her caregiver Linda Weitz, who is here vacationing from

Washington, D.C.

Linda and her husband got involved with the Community Animal

Network after they met us the last time they came to visit their

daughter. The family corresponded with us by e-mail, and we designed

a plan for them to take custody of Jasper and her babies the day

after she arrived for her month’s vacation on the Balboa Peninsula.

The Weitz family is a good example of how people can get involved

for whatever amount of time they can. We recently had a young woman

who took two kittens home to foster while she waited for her cancer

surgery to be performed at Hoag Hospital. She said it was the right

time, and she wanted to give back.

If you have had fun all summer and think you might want to settle

in and help this fall and winter, we would be happy to have your

help. Another surge of kittens is upon us, and we will still need

help.

THIS JUST IN

Small dogs are so popular and get adopted so quickly that we

barely have time to announce their arrival or snap their photos. If

you are interested in a 1-year-old Chihuahua named Cocoa, please

e-mail wantdog@animalnetwork.org.

Remember that small dogs are hard to find, so why not adopt an

older big dog that is less active and would want to just lay by your

side.

VET MEDICAL RESCUE NOTE

Daisy and Riesling, the two little tabbies, had their second

surgery to complete the procedure to correct their eyelids and stop

the cornea damage from the lashes rubbing. We thank all who donated

and are still graciously accepting donations.

The Community Animal Network is a community-supported animal

organization linking people and pets through community action. See
