Tennis Open continues Saturday

Competition at the 43rd annual Huntington Beach Open Tennis

Tournament will continue Saturday and Sunday at the Pacific Sands

Cabana Club in Huntington Beach.

The tournament, which began last weekend, will conclude this

weekend with championship round play.

The tournament features play in men’s and women’s singles and

doubles, mixed doubles, open and open senior men’s play and 3.5 to

5.0 divisions.

The event is one of the oldest tournaments in Orange County.

Water polo club sets fall session dates

The Huntington Beach Water Polo Club will run its fall session for

boys and girls Sept. 7 through Nov. 19.

The club offers instruction in fundamentals and strategies,

competitive scrimmages and tournaments and puts an emphasis on

sportsmanship. All practices will be held at the Huntington Beach

High aquatics facility.

Practice times for division teams are as follows:

12-and-under: Tuesday and Thursday, 5 to 6:30 p.m.; 14-and-under

girls: Monday and Wednesday, 5 to 6:30 p.m.; 14-and-under boys:

Monday and Wednesday, 6:30 to 8 p.m.; High School girls: Tuesday and

Thursday, 7:30 to 9 p.m.

Friday night conditioning also is offered for all ages, from 5 to

6:30 p.m.

Due to the high school water polo season, some practice times

might be subject to change.

The cost per player is as follows: $200 for high school girls,

which includes a team shirt; $285 for age group girls, which includes

a new team swim suit; and $260 for age group boys, which includes a

new team swim suit.

The club team is coached by Stalin Reyes and assistant coaches are

Scott Miller and Corey Dolley.
