Travelers continue to

choose John Wayne

Passenger levels at John Wayne Airport continue to set records,

with the number of travelers in July reaching an all-time high of

869,481, a 6.8% increase compared with July 2003.

That follows June’s passenger levels, the highest on record for

that month, according to information from the airport. Officials

expect August to be as busy as the rest of the summer.

In July, total aircraft operations included 32,026 takeoffs and

landings, an increase of 5.1% from the same month in 2003, and

commercial carrier flight operations climbed 7.6% compared with the

same month last year.

Newport firm sells major

out-of-area marketplace

Development firm Wattson Breevast of Newport Beach has sold the

Foothill Marketplace in Rancho Cucamonga for $46 million.

Pan Pacific Retail Properties purchased the shopping center, where

tenants include Circuit City, Office Depot and Coco’s restaurant.

Wattson Breevast has developed properties worth more than $2

billion, including more than 13-million square feet of retail,

office, industrial and residential space.

People Department of

builder adds new VP

Newport Beach builder John Laing Homes recently appointed

Alejandro Macia vice president of the company’s People Department,

which handles professional development and human resources.

Macia has 17 years’ experience in human resources and will work on

attracting and retaining talented employees and expanding the

company’s leadership training and development.

Macia, of Rancho Santa Fe, has a degree in business administration

from the University of Vermont and has served as vice president of

human resources for Charles Schwab in Newport.
