Man accused of harassing children

Newport Beach Police arrested a Fullerton man on suspicion of

groping at least two girls while they were in the ocean.

Salvador Flores Gonzalez, 32, was arrested Aug. 25 after a group

of girls complained that the man was harassing them in the water off

38th St., Newport Beach Police Sgt. Steve Shulman said. The man

allegedly exposed himself and touched the girls inappropriately,

police said.

He faces two counts of felony lewd and lascivious acts with a

child under 18 and one misdemeanor count each of indecent exposure

and child annoying. He also faces felony charges for identifying

himself as someone else to police.

Gonzalez, who Shulman said is a registered sex offender, is being

held without bail and is scheduled for arraignment Friday at Harbor

Justice Center.

Car and loaded-gun incident nets arrest

Costa Mesa Police on Tuesday arrested a Santa Ana man allegedly

driving a stolen car with a loaded gun in it.

Officers pulled over a 1992 Honda Civic at 7:15 p.m. at Harbor and

MacArthur boulevards for playing loud music, said Sgt. Marty Carver.

A passenger in the car ran off.

The car was reported stolen from Santa Ana, and officers found a

loaded weapon in the trunk. Police arrested 18-year-old Julio Cesar

Medrano on suspicion of vehicle theft, presenting a fake

identification, carrying a concealed weapon and carrying a loaded

firearm.

Police did not find the passenger.

Medrano is being held at Central Men’s Jail in Santa Ana on

$20,000 bail.
