The Friends of Shipley

Nature Center will hold a “Celebration Day” to commemorate the

progress made since 2002 in restoring the habitat, refurbishing the

Interpretive Building, and creating an educational program for

elementary school children. The event will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

at the Shipley Nature Center in Huntington Central Park. Information:

Coastal Cleanup Day is an annual event to clean up beaches through

out the city. Gloves and plastic bags will be provided and parking

will be free for all volunteers. Volunteers will meet at the north

side of Huntington Beach Pier. The cleanup will be from 9 a.m. to

Huntington Dog Beach will hold a beach cleanup every Saturday and

Sunday. Cleaning packages can be picked up from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at

towers 20, 22 and 24, on the beach between Goldenwest Street and

Married couples of all ages as well as couples preparing for

marriage are invited to attend the “Thriving Marriages” seminar at

Grace Lutheran Church from 2 to 4:30 p.m. The keynote speakers, John

and Claire Frazier-Yzaguirre, have more than 40 years of combined

The Bolsa Chica Wetlands Tour will be a walk along the loop trail

of the wetlands. Trained tour guides will discuss bird

identification, ecology, endangered species, early history and the

wetlands’ status. The walk will begin at 9 a.m. Guests will meet at

the walkbridge at the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve on the east side

Pacific Coast Highway between Warner and Seapoint avenues. Admission

The Shipley Nature Center Tour will offer visitors a chance to

hear descriptions of the center’s planned restoration to its

historical native plant habitat with the addition of water

conservation gardens. The event will begin at 11 a.m. Guests will

meet at the front gate to the Shipley Nature Center in Huntington

Central Park. Parking will be available in the Central Park Drive

parking lot off Edwards Street between Talbert and Slater avenues.
