Gunshots fired after car collision

A crash in Huntington Beach Friday became even more dangerous

after a passenger allegedly involved in the accident reportedly

opened fire on the driver of the other car.

The crash and shooting were reported at about 11:50 a.m. Friday near the intersection of Rotterdam Lane and Warner Avenue, police

said. When police arrived, they found a 20-year-old Huntington Beach

man, who reported he was attacked during a confrontation over the

crash.

The man’s Lincoln Towncar was struck by a dark blue Ford F-150

pickup truck, Huntington Beach Police Sgt. Dave Bunetta said. The

truck had no license plates and was likely damaged on the front

driver’s side. After the initial collision, the driver of the truck

reportedly rammed the man’s vehicle twice. One of four people inside

the truck fired one shot at the man, police said. Police do not know

if the shooter was trying to scare or injure the driver, who was not

hurt.

Four men in their late teens to early 20s were seen in the truck,

which drove away after the shooting. Police have not made any

arrests.

Police searching for bank robber

A man is still on the loose after he reportedly held up a Surf

City bank on Sept. 9.

The robbery happened at about 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 9 at the Bank of

America on Algonquin Street, police said. The robber brandished a

handgun at a bank teller, demanded money and ran away with an

undisclosed amount of cash. No one was hurt during the robbery,

Huntington Beach Police Sgt. Dave Bunetta said.

The thief is described as a man in his early 20s, weighing 150 to

160 pounds. He reportedly wore a long-sleeved blue shirt with a

circular emblem on the chest and long pants.
