UCI professor gets $100,000 grant

Cristina Gibson, a business professor at UC Irvine’s graduate

school of management, was awarded a $100,000 grant from the National

Science Foundation’s Innovation and Organization Change Division.

The award supports her project, “The Science and Art of Global

Collaboration,” and will be used toward exploring techniques to

collaborate with filmmakers around the world in creating innovative,

digitally enhanced productions.

Gala nets big money for Crystal Cove

The Crystal Cove Alliance’s second Tropical Gala fundraiser Sept.

11 and 12 raised $240,000 to benefit the Crystal Cove State Park

Historic District.

More than 400 cove supporters attended the event, which included

beachfront dining and ‘50s and ‘60s beach-party-style live

entertainment.

CM900 hosts wine tasting and auction

CM900 of the Costa Mesa Chamber of Commerce will host an afternoon

of wine tastings, live music and a live auction from 1 to 4 p.m.

Sunday at the South Coast Plaza Village Green.

Admission is $50, and tickets are available by calling (714)

885-9095. Proceeds will provide scholarships for local high school

graduates with financial need.

Participating wineries include Cakebread Cellars, Justin

Vineyards, Tobin James Cellars and Domaine Chandon, and participating

restaurants include Bluewater Grill, California Pizza Kitchen, The

Clubhouse, Antonello Ristorante, Royal Khyber Fine Indian Cuisine and

Karl Strauss Brewing Co.
