Christopher L. Weingarten of Huntington Beach was...

Christopher L. Weingarten of Huntington Beach was named to the dean’s

list at Tusculum College in Greeneville, Tenn. Weingarten was honored

for his academic work in the Spring 2004 semester. To be ranked on

the dean’s list, students at the college must earn a grade-point

average of at least 3.5 ... Edison High School graduate and airplane

manufacturer Andy Chiavetta won first place at the 2004 Reno Air

Races for the third year in a row. Chiavetta’s company, Aero Chia

built the twin turbocharged Lancair Legacy that was piloted to

victory on Sept. 19 by pilot Darryl Greenamyer. Chiavetta graduated

from Edison High School in 1973 ... Leah Perry, of Huntington Beach,

was one of five Mater Dei High School students who were identified as

outstanding Hispanic students by the College Board’s National

Hispanic Recognition Program. Perry was one of 3,300 high school

juniors who earned the highest scores out of nationwide pool of

124,000 juniors who took the Preliminary SAT test. The College Board

sent Leah’s name to colleges and universities as part of an effort to

enroll Latino/a students in higher education.
