What is the biggest issue facing the city?

The city operating independent of its residents, especially

Northern Huntington Beach.

Considering such issues as the sports complex lawsuit and

improperly converted condominiums, do you agree with criticism that

the city has been mismanaged? How would you run the city better?

City officials are not properly qualified to make certain

decisions. That’s why we hire experts in certain fields to fill those

gaps. To eliminate mismanagement, I would look to the private sector,

to professionals, to assist me in making intelligent decisions. Henry

Ford (Ford Motor Co.) once said he wasn’t the most intelligent man in

the world, but knew how to surround himself with the best talent

available. That is what I will do.

Given that the future of the Bolsa Chica still is unclear, what is

your position on development on the upper portion of the mesa and

other environmental issues facing the city?

Sell any city-owned property currently not being used and have

experts who have no interest in the property submit proposals for the

land use.

What direction do you think development -- such as the Strand,

Pacific City, Bella Terra and a third hotel proposed between the

Hilton Waterfront and Hyatt -- should be headed in the city?

What do the people say? Are we taking away services, already

strained, from the people in the name of development? Bella Terra has

been a disaster from the beginning. Only God can help that

development. As for new development, enough is enough. Turn the whole

thing into privately owned parks, yes that’s right, for profit. That

will generate tax revenue instead of bond indebtedness.
