Film Society ‘Sound of Music’ sing-along

The Laguna Beach Film Society wants locals to start practicing

their in-public singing voice and wear a costume to a free sing-along

at 6 p.m. Sunday at Heisler Park.

The Film Society will be showing the original film “Sound of

Music” with Laguna Tunes’ community chorus leading the assembled

“cast” of moviegoers through the musical score made famous by Julie

Andrews.

In addition to Dance Day, Gallimaufry is “Dancing in the Sand -- A

Tropical Evening in Emerald Bay.” The fundraising event will be held

on South Beach in the private gated community of Emerald Bay from 6

to 10 p.m. Saturday.

The evening includes dinner and dancing on the beach with

performances by dancers from New York City Ballet, comedy and music

by Roxanna Ward and musical theater performances by local performers

David Stoneman, Pat Warren and executive artistic director, Steve

Josephson.

At the event, Gallimaufry’s new producing artistic director of

dance, Jodie Gates, will be introduced and will also be performing.

Tickets are $85 and include valet parking. For tickets, call (949)

Museum to donate to collection

Laguna Art Museum’s librarian Carole Reynolds will present a

collection of the museum’s produced catalogs to Marianna Hof, head

librarian of the Laguna Beach Public Library and to Peggy Cherry,

head librarian at the College of Art and Design at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 4.

at the library, 363 Glenneyre St.

Beginning with this donation, the museum will regularly provide

both libraries copies of museum produced catalogs.

Museum director Bolton Colburn hopes the collection will help

students and residents learn more about the rich art legacy of Laguna

Beach and more about local artists whose works have been exhibited at

the museum. For information, call Laguna Art Museum at (949)
