Assault leaves man with punctured lung
Three men were injured Friday and two others are wanted by police
after a bar fight in Costa Mesa.
The altercation started on the dance floor at the Corner Office
bar at 580 Anton Blvd., Costa Mesa Police Lt. John FitzPatrick said.
Five men got into an argument, which escalated into a fistfight,
Fitzpatrick said.
Security officers broke up the fight and threw the men out,
according to police. Two men in the fight followed the other three --
a 25-year-old Santa Ana man, a 28-year-old Corona man, and a
25-year-old Huntington Beach man -- to their car, police said.
The two men who followed them struck the Huntington Beach and
Corona men in the face with a beer bottle and stabbed the Santa Ana
man with a knife five times, FitzPatrick said.
The Santa Ana man suffered a punctured lung in the attack and, as
of Saturday night, was on a respirator in guarded but stable
condition at Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, FitzPatrick said.
The two men struck by the bottle were treated and released from Hoag
Hospital.
The other two are wanted for assault with a deadly weapon. Police
said they believe the incident was gang-related.
