Longboard championships at Pier
Some of the world’s top longboarders will demonstrate their
talents this weekend at the Coors Light Presents the Toes on the Nose
Longboard Championship.
The three-day event, which will begin Friday, will be held at the
south side of the Huntington Beach Pier and will feature competition
in Women’s World and Men’s Pro Open divisions.
Contestants will compete for $10,000 in cash.
The 64-man field includes some of the best surfers in the world
including past world champions Colin McPhillips, Joel Tudor and Bonga
Perkins.
Oilers to host pancake breakfast
The Huntington Beach High football program will host a pancake
breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Lake Park.
The public is invited to the breakfast, which will benefit the
schools’ football program.
Basketball registration continues
Registration for the upcoming winter season of the North
Huntington Beach chapter of National Junior Basketball continues to
be taken online.
The league is open to boys and girls grades three through eight.
A registration fee of $125 is required per player and covers 10
games, team uniform, team picture and individual trophies.
Games will be played each Sunday throughout the season at local
gymnasiums.
The season will begin the final weekend in November and will run
through the end of February.
