John Thrash
Laguna Beach resident John Thrash died Oct. 11 in his sleep. He
was 60.
Mr. Thrash was born in Barberton, Ohio on Sept. 25, 1944 and grew
up in Los Angeles and Glendale where he graduated from Hoover High
School in 1962.
He was one of the early owners of the Laguna Health Club and
founder of the Hug Club. He was familiar in his signature hats and
colorful costumes and known for his colorful window displays.
Mr. Thrash is survived by his mother, Lois Thrash of San Marcos;
brothers Paul Thrash Jr. of La Canada/Flintridge and Dennis Thrash of
Spokane, Wash; sister-in-law Tina; nieces Traci Oborny, Christi
Clayton and Lori Sutherland; and nephew Greg Thrash.
A memorial celebration is planned for 2 p.m. Saturday at Heisler
Park, just north of the lawn bowling club. Refreshments will be
provided by AIDS Services Foundation at the picnic area above Diver’s
Cove. Balloons, photos and stories from friends are all welcome. If
it’s raining, an alternative site will be posted at the Laguna Health
Club, the Stand and Zinc Cafe.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to
the AIDS Services Foundation or the Laguna Beach Community Clinic.
Annie Muriel Adams
Annie Muriel Adams of Laguna Beach died at her home on Oct. 24.
She was 81.
Mrs. Adams is survived by her daughter Margaret “Lynn” Lindsey of
Laguna Beach; sons Jerry Adams of Nevada and Herbert Adams of Santa
Maria; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Laguna Presbyterian
Church. Interment will be private.
Jacque P. Fried
Jacque P. Fried of Laguna Beach died Oct. 24 at South Coast
Medical Center. She was 81.
She was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Church for more than 40
years.
Mrs. Fried is survived her daughter Teri Smith of Truckee; and one
grandchild.
