Sowers girls down Corona del Mar
The Sowers Middle School seventh- and eighth-grade girls’ basketball
teams won their fifth game in league competition as both defeated
Corona del Mar.
The Lady Vikings won, 26-8, at the eighth-grade level, and the
seventh-grade squad coasted to a 40-4 victory.
Eighth-Grade Division
Sowers 26, Corona del Mar 8
Kaitlin Davis’ steady improvement on the court resulted in a
game-high seven points as the Lady Vikings took care of the Lady Sea
Kings.
Sowers also received outstanding play from Liane Sueda who chipped
in four points and newcomer Nadia Kenney who added a two points and
four steals.
Seventh-Grade Division
Sowers 40, Corona del Mar 4
Seven players got into the scoring column in the easy victory.
The Lady Vikings were led by returner Danielle Miller, who scored
a game-best 10 points.
Danielle Warde contributed eight points to go along with three
steals and Allison McCoy scored six points and grabbed five rebounds.

Under-12 Division
Blue Crew 2, High Voltage 1
Goals by Madison deGraff and Karly Tedford proved to be the
difference for the Blue Crew in their win at Sowers Middle School.
Following a scoreless first period, deGraff put the Blue Crew on
the scoreboard when she scored off a Andre de Jesus assist.
The lead grew to 2-0 in the third period on Tedford’s goal.
Later in that same quarter, Starla Gordon scored on a penalty kick
to pull High Voltage to within a goal.
