Deadline for kindergarten coming

The Nov. 12 deadline is approaching to register children for the

Huntington Beach City School District’s extended kindergarten

program.

The program, which will begin on Jan. 31, is designed for children

who were too young to register for September’s deadline of the

regular kindergarten program.

Extended kindergarten will feature hands-on learning and

activities that develop positive self-esteem. Children who were not

yet 5 years old in September, but who will turn 5 by Jan. 31, are

eligible to register for extended kindergarten.

The program will be at two district schools, Perry and Smith

elementary schools.

Registration will continue through Nov. 12. Children can be

registered for the program at neighborhood elementary schools. The

program can accommodate up to 66 children, according to officials

from the Huntington Beach City School District. For information, call
