The Newport-Mesa Jr. All-American Pee Wee Seahawks lost to the

Rolling Heights Raiders, 12-6, Saturday at Bonita Creek Park in

Newport Beach. Despite the loss, the Seahawks received a No. 3 seed

in the playoffs.

On defense, Austin Rios made his first start at corner and had

four tackles and limited the Raiders’ offense when they attempted to

run to his side. Blair Luchs, Preston Risser, Sam Barkley and Angelo

Angiledes all contributed to stifle the Raiders’ offensive attack.

On offense, running back John Barton lead the way against a tough

Raider defense. Jeff Condino scored from one-yard out for the lone

Seahawk touchdown. Trent Anderson had three carries for 15 yards from

the full back position. The offensive line was lead by Vince

Aqueveque, AJ Swies, Trent Anderson, Jake Ambrose and Zack Beaudin.

Ryan Grable had another catch as tight end to keep the Raider defense

off-balance.

Behind the powerful offensive line of Willie Pyle, Casey Worden,

Joseph Scrivner, Jake Thalman, Hunter Molnar and Eric Fisher, Chase

Favreau was able to rush the ball for 135 yards and three touchdowns

in Saturday’s 27-7 victory over the Huntington Beach Dolphins.

The explosive blocking continually blew holes in the Dolphin

defense for running backs Justus Gildart and Zachary Wade who scored

the extra points. Devan Traglia, Zachary Vayda and Jack Kanen also

ran the ball effectively, with Kanen blasting through and scoring the

final touchdown for the Seahawks.

On defense, the Seahawks’ Jake Huish, Stephen Pratty, Bradley

Courier, Ian Baugh, Bryce Batcheller, Casey Shearer, Jake Hall and

Kellon Truxton dominated the line of scrimmage, holding the Dolphins

to negative yardage much of the day.

Favreau recovered a fumble and ran for 40 yards in the fourth

quarter, maintaining Seahawk dominance of the game.

* Compton Titans 7, Jr. Clinic Silver Seahawks 7

The Jr. Clinic Silver Seahawks lost 33-7 to the Compton Titans

Saturday. Chase Forrest and Tanner Traglia connected for their fifth

consecutive game with a touchdown pass -- a 65-yard bomb.

The sharp blocking of Quentin Moses, Max Carr, Dane Valdivia,

Austin Arico, Marshall Sepulveda, Charlie Padden, Andrew Shearer,

Lukas Nienhuis, Taylor Antenucci, Keaton Cablay, Sage Fleming and

Tate Smith allowed Forrest time to complete five of 11 passes for 102 yards and a touchdown. Four completions went to Traglia and one to

Jake Favreau.

Favreau, the Seahawks leading ground gainer was contained to 35

yards against the top-rated defense in the league. The defense was

led by Spencer Lujan’s recovered fumble, Stephen Cureton, Padden with

two tackles for loss, Shearer with a tackle for a loss and Valdivia

with three tackles for losses.

* Jr. Midget Seahawks 14, Carson Colts 12

The Jr. Midget Seahawks came out victorious in a tough battle with

the undefeated Carson Colts Saturday night. After rushing gains by

Michael Helfrich, JB Green and Taylor McSunas, quarterback Adrian

Luchs connected with wide receiver Coby Peterson on a fade pass for a

touchdown, leaving the score 7-0 Seahawks in the first quarter.

The Colts responded with a rushing touchdown, but failed to make

the extra point, leaving the score 7-6 Seahawks.

With tough protection from offensive linemen Kyle Cablay, William

Ham, Ron Sadler, Andrew Paddon, Sean Breslin, Matt Morris and Andrew

Yelich, Luchs connected again with Peterson for a 30-yard touchdown

pass.

Michael Helfrich added to his rushing stats when he intercepted a

Carson pass and returned it 40 yards. The Seahawks were unable to

convert the interception into a touchdown, but continued to dominate

the Carson offense with pressure by the defense of Cathan Cokas,

Michael McKay, Grant Keligian, Robert Connealy, Andrew Hicks, Sean

Mangano, Tyler Haly, Brandon Kula and Vincent Galvez. Linebackers

Michael Lancaster, Alex Swigert and Dutch Lamons made stops to halt

the Colts’ offense and Danny Miller and Cathan Cokas both had fumble

recoveries.

In the fourth quarter, Carson was once again thwarted when Mitch

Sands intercepted a Colt pass, but the Colts finally did score with

less than two minutes on the clock. Carson went for the two-point

conversion to tie the game but the Seahawks’ defense was unrelenting.

The Colts went nowhere after a tackle by Danny Miller and JB Green,

and the conversion failed, sealing the victory.
