Laguna teams continue to grace CIF polls

Four Laguna Beach High fall sports teams continued to make their

way into the latest CIF-Southern Section rankings, while a fifth came

close to breaking into the top 10.

The polls were released Tuesday by the CIF-SS office in Los

Alamitos.

The highest-ranking Laguna team is its boys’ cross country squad,

which came in at No. 2 in Division IV.

As it has all season, the Breakers are a slot behind top-ranked

Orange Lutheran.

In girls’ volleyball, Laguna is rated fourth in Division IV-AA, a

Top 10 led by Marymount.

Laguna’s girls’ tennis team is listed as No. 1 in the Division I

poll, which is topped by Peninsula and includes Pacific Coast League

rival Tesoro, whom Laguna defeated on Oct. 28, at No. 2.

In the Division I boys’ water polo poll, Laguna comes in at No.

10.

With five wins under its belt, Laguna’s football team just missed

cracking the top 10 in Division IX. The Breakers were among four

teams to receive votes in the polling.

Western tops the Division IX poll at No. 1 and Laguna’s Pacific

Coast League foes Tesoro, Northwood and Corona del Mar are ranked

second, sixth and 10th, respectively.
